25 students took part in a moviemaking workshop across a day-and-a-half

This Kinekulab was a collaboration with Dundee and Angus College Performing Arts course and Dundee Rep in March 2026. The brief was simple – to introduce the Kineku concept to students with performance skills and give them free range to devise, shoot, edit and present their own original haiku movie by the end of the workshop.

Students were give a briefing on the Kineku specification then after a warm-up, were tasked with forming production groups and writing or sketching out Kineku proposals. After a quick feedback round from the workshop leaders the students set about shooting the films in their groups.

After shooting was complete most students began working on a finished edit and each group had the opportunity to seek feedback. Once the basic structure of the videos was set, all the draft Kineku were viewed and final notes given before titles were added and finished films uploaded for sharing.

The workshop ended with a screening of all 24 finished Kineku on DAPA’s main stage.
